Holistic Alternatives
As it relates to dentistry, “holistic” means lots of different things which will have different implications in the treatment of one patient as compared to another. What we do here is LISTEN to your ideas about how you would like to be treated, and then we go from there. We’ll explain the pros and cons of your ideas and discuss alternatives so that you have a complete picture of what is possible and what is smart, and maybe what’s not so smart. While we’re at it, we’ll will help demystify confusing holistic topics for you. Topics like what is the proper method of safe mercury removal? Should I have composites or should I have ceramics? Does root canal disinfection really work and what materials should my root canal tooth have in it? What about the different periodontal gum treatment options, and how do I choose a conventional implant verses a metal free implant verses a fixed ceramic bridge. We know all this stuff and we’ll help you figure it out.
That said, here are some holistic terms that more or less define our practice. You will hear these used every day in our office: “Water tight (and I do mean water tight) rubber dam,” CEREC, Low temperature fusing ceramic, zirconium, endocal 10, digital radiography, QRA, caries detector, laser disinfection, galvanic current, TMJ, centric relation, neuromuscular position, Isodry, The Wand………….
